This is part of a series exploring Luke’s Gospel for the Advent season. One chapter a day for the first 24 days of December. (We’ll see how we go!) I hope you enjoy :)

In Luke chapter 7, John the Baptist asks whether Jesus was Who he thought he was. Perhaps this was at a moment of low despondency: this would be understandable, given the circumstances.
I wonder how often we don’t recognise, or realise, what’s in front of us. In this passage, Jesus responds by listing the very Messianic activities that are going on. People are being healed, receiving their sight, etc.
What is God doing in your life? Are there obvious things happening, or do you feel like maybe you’ve missed them?
Sometimes we could benefit from changing our perspective. Perhaps we don’t always feel like there’s something good going on, but we can start by giving thanks for what we know. Then, perhaps as an act of faith, we can give thanks for what we don’t know - or don’t fully realise - yet.
John the Baptist was the greatest prophet (Luke 7:28). Even he felt the need to ask questions sometimes. If we feel we need to from time to time as well, don’t be disheartened. Jesus knows.
