Do You Ever Look?

Do you ever look at a tree
And wonder why?
Or at the bees and breathe
A sigh?
Do you observe the sky
And say goodbye
To merriment and sad farewells,
Amid the summer’s wedding bells?
Tingling funeral tolls
Ring just as loud.
Ruptured clouds grow soon apart.
The sky grows wet as it gets dark.
Spattered rains and spluttering starts
In the farm’s Land Rover.
Autumn’s nearly over.
With it leave the leaves.
Bare are winter’s trees.
