Summer Evening in A Garden

The air, heavy with the scent of honeysuckle,
Gives off that pricking which accompanies
An evening in summer, warm
And resplendent with hay fever.
Wind, rattling the clamouring chimes,
Makes windmills spin and knock against
The purple heads of flowers serenely set
Below a backdrop of a wall of roses.
A cat, scared by far-off sounds
Chases after fish in a trickling pond.
Drinking from a feature it is well,
Happy and content.
Summer, sitting in a garden after rain,
Is of the best times.
